Several years ago, while teaching a CPR certification course at an engineering firm in town – check out my Meet Tina page, if you didn’t know I was a Red Cross instructor – I was thrilled to learn my friend Adam was expecting his first son with Maria.
Brand new to the newborn photography world, I begged him to let me photograph baby Vincent. Adam is a great guy. Sweet, funny, happy, and always kind, and his wife must be equally so, because they agreed to let me practice with their baby boy. It was a ton of fun and a great learning experience for me. I am so glad that they gave me that opportunity. And from that opportunity, my love for newborn photography only grew.
Adam & Maria loved their photographs with baby Vincent. And since that day, after hundreds of hours of practice, classes, and study, my craft has improved at least 100 fold. As a much more seasoned newborn photographer, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph their second son together, baby Apollo!
Now you get to meet their sweet little Apollo, at only 16 days old.
Ideally, newborn sessions are conducted between 6-12 days old. The reason behind this is because newborns still like to curl up into cute little balls at that age. Once they reach about two weeks old, it can become a little harder to achieve those curled up poses because they have learned to enjoy being able to stretch out.
However, it is still entirely possible to capture beautiful images of your newborn even when they are a bit older. And some babies, who are older than 12 days, like Mr. Apollo here, still love to curl up into cute little poses for me.
Here is the entire family together. Adam & Maria, Maria’s 14 year old son Carlos (who is already 6’1″!!), sweet little Vincent (who is growing up so quickly), & baby Apollo.
