Looking back on my high school senior portraits, I remember the poses & the outfit changes, the studio yearbook pictures, and the more fun outdoor pictures. My Mom & Dad have a couple of large framed prints from that session, and the only thing I have is my proof book. A little album with my 20 final image options to flip through. That little book holds a lot of memories for me of my teenage-high-school-senior-verging-on-the-cusp-of-college-&-true-adulthood self.
It is my desire, as a high school senior photographer, to provide this for all of my high school senior clients. A little leather bound keepsake album that holds the majority of the images from your senior session. Something they can take with them as they grow. Something they can show their own children someday. I care about this so much, that these albums are currently included in all three of my senior collections.
Sabino High School, Class of 2018 – Chase
Melanie contacted me in April for a last minute senior session for her son Chase. They live in the same neighborhood as the Arizona National Golf Course. She said that their family has grown up on that course, he even works there, so it was important for her to have his session at that location. I loved that the session was literally right across the street from my studio location & so close to Sabino High School. They arranged permission for the photo session at the golf course & we even got to ride around in golf carts for easy access to Chase’s favorite locations!
We started out the session around the clubhouse while the sun was still bright. It was my first session with my outdoor lighting equipment, so it was great to have Melanie to help me out as a lighting assistant as I quickly learned the ropes. As the light got lower, we headed out onto the course. We found some desert pathways in bloom & some beautiful mountain view greens, and we finished up just past sunset at hole 18’s tee. If you haven’t been there, you cannot imagine the breathtaking views of the surrounding golf course & cityscape, if you have been there…then you know exactly what I am talking about!
As far as my first session with outdoor lighting, I think everything worked out beautifully. I got some gorgeous images that I could never have achieved without lighting. It really helped that my model was quite handsome as well! I don’t think that this session could have turned out any better!
Here are the spread layouts that I used for Chase’s senior album.
This final spread was one of the images from Hole 18, with a corner of the clubhouse & Sabino High School in the immediate background. This was one of many favorite images from the session!
